Troy University
SACS Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Off-Site Committee Comments The ten criteria that form the basis for the evaluation of the institution’s full-time faculty are published in the Troy University Faculty Handbook (p. 40), as is the relationship between such evaluations and promotion. The procedures by which adjunct faculty members are evaluated (including the submission of a portfolio and evaluations by supervisors as well as students) are defined in document AOP 8-1-07-04. These are also published under “Academics” on the university website. Although Troy clearly has a mandate to conduct these evaluations, it has not documented that the evaluations are actually conducted. The On-Site Committee should seek documentation that evaluations are conducted. Narrative: Troy University is committed to the annual evaluation of its full-time faculty and as noted by the off-site committee, publishes the criteria for this evaluation and describes in detail the evaluation process. Troy University annually evaluates its full-time faculty members and maintains these evaluations in each faculty member’s file. All Troy University faculty files, for all full-time and part-time faculty, are centrally collected in the Office of Academic Support in Room 219 of the Adams Administration Building on the Troy campus. To document that these evaluations are conducted as prescribed by University policy, annual faculty evaluations will be made available to members of the on-site committee during their visit to the Troy campus. Troy University respectfully finds that it is in compliance with this comprehensive standard.
