SACS Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Narrative: Troy University is in compliance with this Comprehensive Standard. Troy University defines and publishes policies regarding appointment and employment of faculty and staff. The process of recruiting, selecting, and appointing faculty members is outlined in detail in the Faculty Handbook (pp. 37-41). Both tenure-track faculty employment contracts and non-tenure-track faculty employment contracts ensure that newly hired faculty members receive the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is reviewed annually by the Academic Steering Committee and the University Promotion and Tenure Review Committee. The procedures relative to the employment of staff are provided in the Staff Handbook (pp. 15-18). Upon their employment, staff members indicate that they have read the staff handbook by signing a staff handbook receipt form that is placed in the personnel file. Employment procedures are publicized and reviewed by the Office of Human Resources, and any proposed changes follow the steps for policy review and approval that are shown in the ePolicy Manual, section 101. Any changes or clarifications are publicized widely, as demonstrated by the Academic Operating Procedure 6-24-08-01. Troy University is in compliance with this Comprehensive Standard.
