Narrative:

Troy University is in compliance with this Comprehensive Standard.

Troy University has a well designed system that is fully deployed for evaluating the effectiveness of its administrators on an annual basis.

The requirement for conducting regular evaluations is stated in ePolicy 607.16, which requires that “employees will be evaluated at the end of appraisal periods and annually thereafter.”

Each year, administrators are evaluated using the Professional Staff Personnel Evaluation Form that includes an evaluation of job knowledge, leadership skills, professional qualities, organizational skills, judgment and decisions, and communication skills. Administrators and their managers both complete the report and have a conversation to discuss how each perceives the administrator’s performance. For example, time management was identified as a significant issue for the senior academic leaders in 2007. A time management workshop was developed for all senior academic leaders in June 2008. In addition, time management software was purchased for these individuals in support of this initiative.

Evaluations for administrators are maintained by and available from the Executive Vice Chancellor/Provost and senior vice chancellors.
