X Compliance   Partial Compliance   Non-Compliance

Troy University is in compliance with this Comprehensive Standard.

By act of the State Legislature of Alabama, (Section 16-56-6) the Governor of the State of Alabama, the State Superintendent of Education, and the trustees appointed by the Governor of the State of Alabama constitute the governing board of the institution. This legislation states: “The board of trustees shall appoint a chancellor who shall serve as the chief executive officer of the university system and as secretary to the board and shall perform all services as may be required by the board.”

The governing board is authorized to conduct a periodic evaluation of the chief executive officer and does so on a periodic basis. The evaluation is conducted by the Executive Committee, which is defined in Article IV of the Board of Trustees Bylaws as consisting of the President Pro Tempore, the Vice President Pro Tempore, and the Chair of the Finance Committee.

The evaluation of the Chancellor’s contract results in the renewal of his four-year contract. The renewal of the contract is evidence of the Board of Trustees’ evaluation of the Chancellor’s satisfactory performance in his role. The Nov. 2006 Board resolution to renew the Chancellor’s contract is provided.

The Chancellor’s job description is provided in Section 1.2.2 of the Faculty Handbook.
