SACS Reaffirmation of Accreditation
3.2.2 The legal authority and operating control of the institution are clearly defined for the following areas within the institution’s governance structure: The institution's mission
X Compliance   Partial Compliance   Non-Compliance

Troy University is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard.

Troy University’s Board of Trustees has the legal authority and operating control for the institution based on Section 16-56-6 of the Code of Alabama.

When the Board of Trustees decided to merge the separately accredited campuses at Dothan, Montgomery and Troy, Ala., it authorized the development of a new mission statement that was included in the substantive change prospectus for the merger provided to SACS in 2004. Both the SACS Commission on Colleges and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education approved the merger.

The mission statement was developed through the combined effort of stakeholders. Faculty, administrators, students and staff participated in the development of the mission statement through service on several committees. Additional information is provided in Core Requirement 2.4, Core Requirement 2.5 and Comprehensive Standard 3.1.1.

The current mission statement was approved by the Board of Trustees on April 16, 2004 in preparation of the merger in 2005. Troy University’s mission statement is as follows:
